Kalasamvara, Chris Carter, and Dina Bandhu

The mural, says artist Dina Bandhu from Ukraine will cover a wall measuring 4.1 metres by 2.8 metres in the main worship hall of the temple.

A small painting of the mural was unveiled by Ethnic Affairs Minister Chris Carter on July 23, and this will be auctioned at the temple on August 16, 2006 together with a painting donated by Colin Greenwood of ‘Jagannatha-Baladeva-Subhadra’ by Ramesh Candra Maharana (Master Artist at the Jagannatha Puri Temple).

Work will begin on the mural when the $1-million dollar target is reached. Organiser Ketan Patel says more than $60,000 has already been raised from local and international devotees who have been asked to donate a minimum of $100.

In his speech, Mr. Carter said that the prime minister at the time, David Lange, who laid the foundation stone for the building, had been very attached to the Temple.
