Devotees squeezed into an over-flowing house for the installation of Gaura Nitai deities at the new home of Sundar Gopal and Saubhagya Sundari on Saturday, June 2 in Massey, Auckland.
Baskets were carried in by devotees with their own deities snuggly tucked inside , and Saubhagya Sundari commented that it was a “Gaura Nitai party”.
Sundar Gopal said that they had been considering bringing deities into their home to worship, and one evening Padmasambhava and his wife Arcana phoned to say they were bringing two brahmacaris to meet them. When they arrived with a basket, it was obvious to Sundar Gopal and Saubhagya Sundari, that the brahmacaris were Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda. Expressing a small doubt about keeping
the deities, they were told that they had come to them and were not leaving.
A lively kirtan was led by Sridama. Prana ,who performed the bathing, said that the new house was big but not big enough for all the devotees, and another mortgage would be required.
